Tranquil Feathers uses birdscaping to attract a diversity of birds to one location in a community. Once established, participants can experience the birds and their myriad colors, shapes, sizes, and sounds. Tranquil Feathers includes log books, bird charts, identification guides, and puzzles. We designed Tranquil Feathers to stimulate the senses of people afflicted with cognitive impairments. Incorporating wildlife encounters into person-centered care techniques can foster better, more regular sleep patterns and can delay the onset of sundowning, ultimately yielding improved quality of life. Birding is a life-experience that progresses from childhood through adulthood. Because birds are always in our lives, they can provide a meaningful link with our pasts. Tranquil Feathers fosters this connection to the past, while simultaneously promoting new experiences. Call 847.873.0409 to learn more. |
